For a start, this isn't an attention seeking topic. I'm just letting the people who care know what's going on with me and UT.

Short Version:
- I don't have as much fun playing UT as I do other games, these days.
- I'll be quitting UT soon. Maybe permanently this time.
- The majority of you are awesome.

Longer Version:
You've probably noticed I haven't been on the dU servers for a few weeks again now. There's two main reasons for that. One, I've been incredibly busy. Two, I've been spending time on other servers to see if I'm getting fed up with dU or UT in general. It turns out it's mostly UT.
Now, I'm known for taking loads of breaks from UT and then eventually coming back. But each time I've come back, I've tried something new. I've now run out of different ways to play, and I've played nearly every map countless times over the 5 - 6 years I've been here. When you've played 3,000+ hours of UT, it's bound to come to this point eventually.

This brings me onto my next point. The servers used to be FULL of friendly people. Now, I only tend to get on with a handful of people who play. The majority of players seem to be spam map voters who come in, vote poor maps, don't say much, then leave again. I've wasted far too much of my life waiting out bad maps, when I should have just left and done something else. With other games, I'm nearly always enjoying myself and not wasting my time. In summary, I don't think the UT community is what it used to be and it makes me sad.

With the negatives out of the way, I'll move onto something more positive. The time I've spent on the |bah| and dU servers has been an absolute blast, and I want to thank everyone who made them what they were - The admins/staff, to the countless players I've played with. I may not have been perfectly behaved the whole time, but come on, who is? I've had some incredibly fun moments while playing here, some of which I'll probably never forget. I've made some good friends and also met a few not-so-great people. I'm glad I could have been involved with such an amazing community of people for the past half a decade.

Sorry this dragged on. A lot is going on in my life, so I'm in a very... odd mood.

The final part:
Thank you again to everyone for making my UT experience what it was. I won't be disappearing completely. I'm going to play on some other servers for a little longer before I stop playing, but I might still pop onto the forums once in a while. I wish dU and everyone of you every success in whatever it is you're doing or are going to do in the future. It's been a blast, guys, but I shall now put down my enforcers and make the servers a quieter place! Anyone who wants to keep in contact, feel free to PM me and we can sort something out.

Goodbye guys, and take care  wave

+1.

that part is the poor truth, even i can't think of another reason then entering dU for some nice players, since the maps that get voted by the huge ammount of shit players gets more frustrating every day.
reason why i haven't been playing thta much as i used to.

anyways, take care and maybe cu around another time. Wink

Good arguments everywhere. Something you actually don't see often.

Whenever you feel the urge to map something make sure you don't let it go to waste and work on that Ristvak remake. You never know. :P
(Some of my WIP maps are now 8 years old. :D)

What are you planning to play next?

Yeah, I'll probably keep working on the map every so often. Just need to figure out the next part, then I should be fine till the end of the map.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to be playing next. I have so many games that I'll probably be jumping between a few. I've still only played the first 4 hours of Skyrim, so I'm guessing i'll try and get into that.
I've just played the helll out of Saints Row The Third as well. Then maybe, just maybe, I'll get back into Minecraft. I haven't played it for quite some time now.

"I used to play UT99, then I took an arrow in the knee."

Yeah, I'm pretty much not online just because I've found other games or that I'm doing coursework. Also, Windows Vista is not built for UT99. It jerks around all over the place, even on Single Player. I've tried compatibility modes and things, but nothing helps.
Lately Batman & Assassin's Creed have been taking up my gaming time, but I'm keeping UT99 installed for the few times that I feel like piloting nuclear missiles or wielding an excessive amount of weaponry.

Still, it's good to see you, Nin. And I've got enough ways to contact you, so this probably isn't goodbye so much as please hold the line, your call is important to us.
