Even with the Titans, if you shoot them about center of their head, aiming at the juncture where there head goes into the shoulders, you can bring them down faster with a sniper rifle than with any other weapon because like most everything else in UT they're vulnerable to headshots.

Even if their head doesn't pop off after you kill them that way.

I haven't actually looked though, at all species. Is there anything in ut99, or any UT game, that you can't get a headshot on?

You can't get a headshot on crouching players, otherwise if you hit a player at the top 33% of the hitbox you'll get a headshot. I think the same goes for creatures.

Ripper deals more damage though: a ripper headshot does 159 damage at a fire rate of 2.9 a second, a sniper headshot does 150 damage  at a fire rate of 1.33 a second. So each second ripper does 455 damage versus 200 damage for sniper. Appearantly the chainsaw (alt fire swing) can also do headshots (source
