Well not entirely false... I was one of the last persons to upgrade from DOS to windows 95. At the end, i was using a multi-tasking program in DOS to do several things at once. But the jump from DOS to windows was big, not sure it's still the case betwen XP and windows 8. It's like having a bicycle that i know works, and trading it for a bicycle with gadgets that i don't need, with the entire bicycle threatening to fall into pieces every second. XP might not have a million gadgets (then again it does and i have to turn them off) but it works.
I think a lot of stuff were hoaxes like iPads, iPhones, iPods and what not. It might be useful for relatively few ppl, but overall they were all trends that became mainstream because ppl like useless gadgets. All i ever had was a cheap mp3 player with 128mb that i almost never used.
Every windows is either 32 bits or 64 bits. There's a 64 bits version of XP that supports > 4GB. Strangely, the 4 GB limit might mostly be a myth, reading this:

Still on XP too. No reason to upgrade. If it's not broken, don't fix it. XP is an extremely stable OS so i don't have the desire to install another to find out. I think it's more for young ppl that want to get the latest gadgets, even if they're meaningless. It's the same with versions, they want the latest, shininest version. | ||||||||||

Evilgrin, where are thee? But unfortunately, despite japanese mass production of anime, there's only very few that are actually good. In fact, a handful. Fist of the north star is the best by far, followed by Ninja Scroll, Royal space force wings of Honneamise, Akira, and finally Wicked City and Vampire Hunter D, and already you see a big de-escalation in that list (vampire hunter d is almost unwatchable at this point). Even Ghost in the shell is too low-level for me to mention, or like. I know lots of ppl are into anime and sites like crunchyroll and animefreaks, but i'm not into the "girly stuff" that has been made since. If i do get into girly stuff, i don't do it hypocritically by pretending that it's not girly at all, and i got straight to the point and watch a Barbie movie. And i did like Barbie: a mermaid's tale. Also worth mentioning is the serie Death Note, which was very, very good. Link Link Link |

I don't know/never played almost the totality of them. One i did was Alliance of Valiant Arms, free game, in the demolition mode. One of the best games out there. I might still be playing it today if it was not for the fact that it is filled with teenagers to the brink, so every 10 seconds someone shouts "eat shit n die n00bs". Plus the fact that there's a kick-vote system that's constantly used to kick random ppl. Get kicked a couple times because of your playstyle then get told to "die n00b" and i'm out. Beside that, the maps Fox Hunting, Black Scent and Hammer Blow are up there among the best maps of all FPS games. Link |

Nah, i got recent hardware. And i found a way to play world of warcraft in 640x480, but again it wasn't really a good game. It was fun sight-seeing, a lot of areas like Northrend were amazing to walk in but once i have, the game doesn't have any interest. It doesn't compare to games of old that i've been playing, like recently Arctic MUD, and it's a text-based game. Games are genuinely disintegrating just like movies and tv series. Just compare the following from the 80s with Dragonball Z. And it's the same with everything else. Link |

Big sprites are a trademark of successful games, like SF2. But then, SF2 like Unreal, made the mistake of getting bad characters into the game, like Deejay, T-Hawk, etc. and so did Unreal. Aren't they in mech suits as well now? Engine-envy and mech-envy... Some people are really trying to compensate for a lack of something. It's a strange customer base, i tell you. Ever noticed that the whole engine and mech fads are gross for people that don't have problems in that area? It really looks as if these ppl are not in the business of selling games but into compensating a certain clientele. |

Hey, ever noticed that there was always innovation in console games yet the console itself never changed? Just think of all the innovation there was on the nintendo, then super nintendo, and all the new game styles that were released back then. The problem was not the engine but what you could make with it. Either they have engine-envy, or... worse... They think their customers have engine-envy. Oh oh. "Hey, i bought the new UT, so i have a bigger engine then yours!" They used to say, The bigger the car the smaller the... The bigger the engine? |

They're as obsessed with their "engine" as the size of their you-know-what... I got a bigger "engine" than he does! |

Would be nice to have a new UT but the problem is that Epic is not creating trends like it used to, it is following them. So even if a new UT was released tomorrow, it has my vote of no-confidence, because while they are portraying themselves as innovators, they really aren't. They try to sell their engines as innovative but the game itself isn't.
Again with the "next-gen code engine", what about a next-gen game itself? Already bad bad sign. This is how they should rephrase it:
And here would be advice for free: A Next-gen game would be a hybrid between a FPS and a MMORPG. It would have all the play style of a FPS but it would be immersed in an open-world MMORPG. People would level, buy better guns instead of "swords". Monsterhunt would already be a glimpse of what it is. But then, no innovation. Every game today is like a clone of another game. Epic is no trend maker anymore. |
