If you want the fix for this, drop me an email. It's too aggressive to use willy nilly across an entire server but there's no reason not to embed it into your map and try using it that way. I fixed this for Hitman and he had pretty good success with it provided the server is robust and there aren't 500+ monsters spawned into the map.

I only stop by here every once in a long while so if you want it you'll have to let me know aside from replying here. It may be another six months before I stop back in. Truthfully I just needed a file for my coop server and it was in one of the map downloads, otherwise I'd have not been in.

Yeah, I'll have trouble sleeping tonight because of my shame.

Your boy Terraniux is threatening FeraliDragon (of all people?) to release private messages they are having over his being banned from ut99.org. I've seen these and this guy's level of arrogance is just simply incredible. I would LOVE it if he released them since Ferali will never do that, you guys need to see what goes on in Terraniux's head. Although I'm not on the best of Terms with Hook and Herm, they at least should see what he is doing in their name.

Terraniux is banned from everything I have for copying member-only postings to other forums (which he admitted to). Now he is banned from UT99.org. Trust me there will be more bannings of him, and if I can convince Ferali to let me show everyone his messages you can decide for yourself.

Don't get me wrong Rork, I couldn't agree more. I'm just telling you from firsthand experience that making it "tough" is the kiss of death for getting players to use it. Back in the day we played tough because we didn't know better, now players are already used to MH and weaning them off is just not gonna happen.
Even if you discard the pure play value of the maps and even enable god mode, there is hours and hours of exploration to be had in the coop mapsets. They are just exceptionally gorgeous, I wish more people would do a little "U"rban spelunking in them  Embarassed

The item use system is what really hurts coop play. I dealt with part of it by making the translator automatic. Translator events are marked by a small, slowly spinning exclamation point. All you have to do is pass near it and the translator auto pops-up on your screen, move away and it auto drops. I made it smaller and see-through too so it doesn't dominate your screen.

The inventory system needs addressed though. In my eyes its better to auto stuff and add reload and rehealth rather than have players trying to scroll through inventory to drop nali seeds. Flashlights can be replaced with the automatic personal light code, scuba should be auto, and flares are stupid anyway. Today's UT players expect a certain level of fun and they are not going to grind out a really tough coop level by themselves without regen and free ammo. They will just leave, which is a shame. Your basic coop level is simply gorgeous and most UT players don't know what they are missing.

Idefix, I ran a coop server for a few months last year. I scripted an entire controller that's not dependent on all those mods, made a really nice (and expandable) hub map, and fixed a huge amount of issues with compatibility and corruption. It's built upon MCoop with input from 3 and his gang. You are welcome to the entire mod, code, maps, and my redirect if you need it. There will always be a special place in my heart for coop and I'd have kept developing it had it seen any use. There just weren't any players joining at all and it sucked trying to beta test with no one else. You guys won't have that problem, you have a huge player base and something like this might take off here.
I don't check here often so if you want all my stuff, you know where to look me up. You can have it all and I'll spend a bit of time on TS explaining why I did what I did. I started my U career with a home dial-up coop server and I'd support anyone that wants to keep the dream alive. There's a lot to know about coop and servers, lots of conflicts and problems especially when you begin to add other map packs.

Bob, coders do not come in any higher regard than Ferali. Ferali has posted that KAAL stole his work, posted it as his, and he told Ferali to F-off when he was confronted. What more would you like as proof? He just did the same thing at OldUnreal over the postal2 pawns and that got him the lifetime ban this past week. Most of the skin work isn't his, it's work he ripped from other packages and made minor changes to then posted it uncredited other than to say it was his. He doesn't defend his theft with anything other than "So? It's all open for everyone!" and adding thinly-veiled threats like the one aimed at me. Is this the sort of member you want? I noticed the dU mod has become obfuscated the last versions. If you condoned KAAL's behavior I cannot see why you would make this decision to protect your work then turn a blind eye to your fellow coder's work that he is bastardizing.

Why don't you pull some more esoteric code of his out and have him explain what it does while you have him on messenger? He won't be able to because he didn't write any of it. I'll bet you haven't even downloaded his megapack because if you did you'd immediately see. You are an intelligent dude, you can tell when things have been reworked.

Look I know you don't care for me and I understand that completely. All I'm asking is you take a look at what Azazel, Anthrax, wormbo, Smirftsch, Shade, Hitman, Schlong and many others have seen and deemed unsafe for their groups. This guy is the worst I have ever seen and you'd do very well to cut him loose like everyone else. This guy needs to learn.

If I release code specifically listed as CC and register it, then yes I do own it. Epic owns the compiled version as ownership is transferred to them because it was rinsed through UCC. I still however own the code itself, as well as custom textures I created, etc because I made them under CC.

Go tell Rush you are going to use his IP2Country code and you plan on obfuscating the mod. See how fast he gets legal on you.

Doubt me? I bet I can get your ISP to shut you down if you use my CC code without permission.

Of the old school players here, who remembers when Unreal came out and you did your first play through? You newer people have to understand there were very few FPS type games and none with good monsters in them, let alone the sounds and lighting the unreal engine let you play with. Cheats hadn't really spread yet so you had to play the game as it was intended.

Now remember the elevator? Be truthful, when it ground to a halt and the lights went out it was creepy stuff. Then the skaarj jumping on top was just the coolest moment ever I've had in a video game. You were trapped, this monster unlike anything you've ever seen is coming for you, and there is nothing you can do. All you can do is listen to his growls while he is a meter away.

Yeah I know, lame by today's standards but in the day...man that was so cool.

When we did Survival we found a lot of the original problems with Beefbowl, SportsInvasion and the stuff in area code and fixed most of them before finally dumping them. It just felt like too much to include in a game. Beefbowl was fun but needed some serious tweaking to make it server playable and solid. I'd have to dig out the old source stuff Bob but if you are interested in updating the U, let me know and I'll find it.
