Hey, guys!

I've been visiting the website every so often, recently, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of people left who will remember me, but I thought I'd stop by to say hi to anyone that does. For those that don't know me, I played on the dU and |bah| servers for many years, and spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing here. I was a mapper for a while and a staff member for a short time before deciding I didn't want to do it any more. I have a lot of fond memories of this place, and met some fantastic people.

How is everyone doing? Who's still here that remembers me?

Hey, Terra! How's your mapping going? I've been good, thanks. Just far too busy to dedicate any time to playing UT, as I've been playing other stuff in my spare time. I had a UT nostalgia trip the other day and realised I missed the game and the community far too much. Sad to see so many have moved on, though.

I'm still mapping! Although I have these moments I have no inspiration at all, the thought to even quit mapping even crossed my mind. But after new insights, I still keep going. I'm too stubborn Razz. My latest map is CrystalMine4, it is present on main but will be updated 1 day. How's your mapping by the way?

Yeah a lot of the 'common' members share the same situation with you (including me) to have often busy times or moved on to other time spending hobbies. But they do pop in from time to time to say hello.

We'll just carry on like there is no end. That is the UT community spirit haha.

Never give up mapping, Terra. Take a break from it, sure, but never quit completely! I've not yet played your new map, but I'm sure it'll be voted when I'm on the server in the next few days. I've not released a map for about 7 - 8 years, now, but I'd love to release another some time soon. I might smarten up one of my old maps to get used to the editor again before I start. After one or two more maps for UT99, I might look into making some for the new UT that's coming out. I'm back at university at the moment, studying games technology, and we're using the new Unreal engine so making levels for the new UT shouldn't be too much hassle.

Good to see you're still around, BoB. Always good to see a familiar face from the old days.

I was wondering how the Boxes remake is coming along, so I'm curious to see what's changed. I'll probably jump onto the mapping server later tonight to see what's new.

The boxes remake hasn't changed that much. It's just one particular area I redid when I was inspired (can't remember how lol). I'm quite happy with it though. :]

The collab map is something like 10-12 mins for walk time alone, so I guess 15-20 mins with monsters for large teams.
It's not that long, yet we had to cut stuff down to stay under UEd's BSP limit (else rebuild fails). Nothing too bad but still annoying because I didn't expect it would be this low.

Hope I can find you on the servers soon. Razz

I checked it out earlier. I saw the brute/behemoth maze for the first time, and it looks almost exactly how it looked in my head when I made it. That's easily my favourite part so far.

According to Steam, I've spent around 15 - 20 hours on UT since I came back the other day, so I'm sure you'll catch me on the servers soon. I've started work on a new map so that may drag me away a little, though.

It's the subtle little additions that really made me like it. For example, the lighting was perfect, and the lava running under the ground was an awesome extra.

I imagine my first new map will be a little rough around the edges because I've not touched the editor in a few years and I seem to have forgotten how to do everything Very Happy1 But this map is just to get me back into things.

I've tried to quit UT many times now, but I can't seem to stay away for too long. I think the only way I'll fully quit UT is if dU dies.
